OSSERVATORIO ASTRONOMICO DELLA REGIONE AUTONOMA VALLE D'AOSTA:

 

PROGRAMMA DELLE ATTIVITÀ
DI RICERCA PER IL 2011

Nel 2011 proseguirà il lavoro su quattro progetti di ricerca, tutti in collaborazione on INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Torino (INAF-OATo):

a) Progetto Corona solare (responsabile Paolo Calcidese) : continuazione del lavoro di calibrazione di un innovativo strumento per lo studio del Sole, in particolare per l'analisi della luce polarizzata proveniente dalla corona solare, visibile solo in condizioni di eclissi totali;

b) Progetto Asteroidi (responsabile Albino Carbognani) : osservazione ed analisi fotometrica degli asteroidi Troiani di Giove per stabilirne le caratteristiche rotazionali e l'origine fisica in collaborazione con il DLR di Berlino e l'INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Torino (OATo). Analisi teorica comparativa delle proprietà rotazionali degli asteroidi di tipo C ed S della Fascia Principale. Osservazioni astrometriche degli asteroidi di tipo NEA, in grado di costituire un rischio impatto per la Terra, in collaborazione con il Minor Planet Center (MPC) con sede ad Harvard, USA;

c) Progetto Nuclei galattici attivi (responsabile Paolo Calcidese): misure dell'emissione luminosa dalle regioni centrali di galassie lontane miliardi di anni luce nell'ambito di un vasto consorzio internazionale chiamato Whole Earth Blazar Telescope (WEBT)

gestito dall'INAF-OATo e comprendente oltre 40 centri in tutto il mondo;

d) Progetto Pianeti extrasolari (responsabili Andrea Bernagozzi, Mario Damasso e Davide Cenadelli): in collaborazione con l'INAF-OATo e con il supporto alle osservazioni da parte dell'INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova (INAF-OAPd) e del Centre for Astrophysics Reseach (CAR) della University of Hertfordshire, ha l'obiettivo di cercare pianeti extrasolari di tipo terrestre in zone di abitabilità in orbita attorno a stelle nane di tipo M con il metodo fotometrico del transito.

Inoltre è in fase di avvio un Project Work per un innovativo progetto di ricerca nell'ambito della Comunicazione della scienza, responsabile Matteo Soldi, iscritto al Master in Comunicazione della scienza della Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) di Trieste. Il tema è la promozione della ricerca scientifica in ambito astrofisico svolta in OAVdA attraverso i new media e il Web 2.0.

In addition, the Minor Planet Center credits to the OAVdA the discovery of two new main belt asteroids, 2007 RT6 and 2007 SB1, and the discovery of a body lost by 7 years, (257875) 2007 XE18.

dell'Astronomia e dell'Astrofisica


Nota esplicativa


Parallelamente allo sviluppo dell'attività di ricerca, i fisici dell'OAVdA sono stati inseriti nelle attività proposte a studenti e insegnanti. Un fattore che si è rivelato decisivo per il successo delle iniziative, perché ha messo sotto l'occhio di tutti in maniera concreta il legame inscindibile che esiste tra la ricerca scientifica e la didattica. Questa impostazione ha contribuito a elevare notevolmente la qualità dell'offerta per le scuole, al punto che alcuni laboratori didattici ispirati ai progetti di ricerca attivati in OAVdA sono stati oggetto di presentazioni orali a congressi scientifici e pubblicazioni su riviste internazionali con peer review. Per questo motivo è pertinente citarli in questa sede.
