{"id":14102,"date":"2023-05-16T14:12:17","date_gmt":"2023-05-16T12:12:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oavda.it\/?page_id=14102"},"modified":"2023-05-16T14:13:40","modified_gmt":"2023-05-16T12:13:40","slug":"the-foundation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.oavda.it\/en\/the-foundation","title":{"rendered":"The Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Astronomical Observatory of the Autonomous Region of Valle d&#8217;Aosta (also indicated by the acronym OAVdA) and the Planetarium of Lignan are located in an area of small town called Saint-Barth\u00e9lemy, in the municipality of Nus, at an altitude of more than 1,600 metres and about 16 km north of the village of Nus.<\/p>\n<p>Both are managed by the Cl\u00e9ment Fillietroz-ONLUS Foundation, financed by contributions from the Autonomous Region of Valle d&#8217;Aosta, the Municipality of Nus and the Unit\u00e9 des Communes Vald\u00f4taines Mont \u00c9milius, founding members of the Foundation, as well as by income from its own activities.<\/p>\n<p>These are mainly four:<span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong> scientific research<\/strong><\/span>, including support for degree theses, PhDs and post-docs, closely linked to <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">technology transfer<\/span><\/strong>, which applies the new knowledge produced by basic research in fields other than the one for which it was conceived; <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">education<\/span><\/strong>, i.e. support for the teaching of astronomical sciences for schools; and <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">outreach<\/span> <\/strong>of astronomy and astrophysics for the general public.
