Scientific Research and Technology Transfer
The OAVdA was inaugurated in 2003; since then, scientific research has been the main activity, with OAVdA researchers authoring and co-authoring numerous papers in leading international journals. In parallel with their research, the astrophysicists personally design and conduct initiatives for schools and the public, based on the principle that there is an inseparable link between scientific research, education and outreach. Over time, the researchers at the Aostan centre have identified various innovative solutions for the advancement of their studies. This has led to the formation of a pool of specific technological expertise that has enabled the Foundation to engage, since 2011, in the field of technology transfer. In this field, OAVdA researchers have contributed and continue to contribute to projects that differ in terms of their objectives, application cases and aims, but which are all set in leading-edge fields of Information Technology and characterised by the need to manage data in a smart way, regardless of the nature of the acquisition devices, through advanced mathematical, statistical and computational tools.
The FCF is the main scientific institution in Valle d’Aosta for fundamental research, the development of related technologies and the communication of astronomy with the public and schools.
In these areas, our Foundation has benefited, for specific initiatives or for supporting activities, from funding from national and European calls for proposals, from bank foundations, such as the Fondazione CRT-Cassa di Risparmio di Torino, which has supported us since 2008, and from regional bodies such as the B.I.M. consortium and others.
